The Full Lotus

This releases stiffness from the hip, knee and ankle joints. Simple sitting positions, like cross legged sitting or the half lotus are used first, to achieve the flexibility needed for the full lotus. These postures, with cushions under the knees and coccyx for support, encourage the body to open as well as to centre. The Full Lotus when your hips are loose enough for this posture, is a beautiful grounding and centering pose for meditation or deep breathing.

NOTE: Practice of these postures without guidance from a teacher or appropriate book, if you are not familiar with them, is not advised.
